Diabetes

At Go Podiatry you can book a Foot Risk Assessment for Diabetics which is the first step to caring for your feet.

Having diabetes means you are at much greater risk of developing foot problems due to reduced sensation and circulation as well as problems with infection and slow healing. You may also get cramps and pain in your legs or feet. These are just some of the signs of a potentially serious foot problem.

A podiatrist will know and understand the impact that diabetes can have on the foot and is trained to identify any problems that may require further medical attention.

If you do not get foot problems treated, they could lead to foot ulcers, infections and, at worst, amputations. Most foot problems can be prevented with good, regular foot care. So you need to know how to look after your feet at home.  Also, make sure you get a diabetic foot check at least once a year. More regular visits may be needed depending upon your risk of developing more serious foot problems.
